The population worldwide is estimated at around 8 billion as of 2022 and is likely to exceed 8.5 billion by 2030 and 9.7 billion by 2050. In addition, the aging population is boosting the demand for healthcare services and contributing to a lack of healthcare professionals. All countries in the WHO European Region are currently experiencing major workforce difficulties in the health and care sectors, according to a new study recently published by WHO/Europe. These are exacerbated by a lack of data and analytical skills, poor governance and management, a lack of strategic planning, and poor investment in worker development. The bigger concern, however, is to attract, retain, and inspire health workers to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the current health systems, which are skewed toward the private health sector. The role of technology in human resources has the potential to alter India’s healthcare system significantly.
